Warranty-authorized service provider
The go-to technicians for Scotsman ice makers in BC
Fix Cheetah is authorized to perform Scotsman manufacturer-warranty repairs, and we fix out-of-warranty Scotsman appliances with the same training and genuine parts.
Scotsman ice maker repair is mostly water work. Scotsman introduced nugget ice to the commercial market and now builds ice machines for businesses and homes alike. Its residential Brilliance line includes nugget and cube models sized for a 15-inch undercounter space, offered with gravity drain or a built-in drain pump, and rated for indoor and outdoor kitchens. On the commercial side, Prodigy ELITE modular cubers use an AutoAlert indicator panel and WaterSense adaptive purge to manage mineral scale. Whatever the model, a Scotsman is a water-handling machine first, so supply water, drainage and sanitation sit behind most of its service calls.
Fix Cheetah is warranty-authorized for Scotsman, so we handle manufacturer-warranty claims as well as out-of-warranty repairs in homes, bars, restaurants and offices. We start from the machine's indicator lights and sensor readings, then repair, descale and sanitize to Scotsman's procedures. Our Surrey team covers Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, where water hardness varies from one supply to the next. Our Whistler-based technicians look after Sea-to-Sky homes and hospitality kitchens, where outdoor units need proper winterizing. Island and remote properties are booked as scheduled trips.

5 Most Common Scotsman Ice Maker Issues and How to Fix Them
Scotsman nugget ice machine not making ice
Brilliance nugget models freeze water inside a refrigerated cylinder while an auger pushes the ice up and out. Scale on the auger and cylinder wall loads the gearmotor, cuts output and can eventually stop the machine. Look at the control panel first: on Brilliance nugget models, a red light means no water is reaching the machine, and it won't make ice until the supply is restored. Open the supply valve and check the filter. If water is arriving and output is still poor, we descale it and test the gearmotor.
Scotsman ice maker leaking water
Gravity-drain Scotsman models need a drain lower than the machine with a steady fall, while pump models rely on the internal drain pump and its check valve. A kinked line, a failed pump or a blocked drain vent sends meltwater onto the floor and into the cabinetry, and because the bin drains all day, a blockage shows up fast. Switch the machine off, close the water supply and check the drain hose behind it for kinks or ice. If the line is clear, we test the drain pump and check valve.
Scotsman ice machine not harvesting
Cube machines release ice by briefly warming the evaporator so the slab slides off. When the ice thickness sensor is coated in scale or the harvest valve fails, the slab never drops, and ice can bridge across the evaporator until the machine stalls. Don't pry ice off the evaporator, since a slip can damage its surface or the refrigerant tubing. Switch the machine off and let it thaw on its own. If it freezes up again after a restart, it needs descaling and testing of the sensor and harvest components.
Scotsman clean light staying on
The time-to-clean light, or an AutoAlert indicator on Prodigy machines, means descaling and sanitizing are overdue or the machine has detected a fault. Resetting the light without cleaning lets scale and slime keep building on the evaporator and in the bin. Use Scotsman-approved scale remover and sanitizer and follow the cleaning procedure in your manual. If the light comes straight back on after a proper clean, or a different indicator lights up, the control is pointing at a fault we can trace.
Scotsman outdoor ice maker not working after winter
Outdoor-rated Brilliance units still need to be drained and winterized before freezing weather. Water left inside can crack the water pump, valves or tubing during a cold snap, and the damage often only shows when you restart in spring: a leak, a pump that hums without moving water, or no ice at all. Don't keep running it if water appears where it shouldn't. We inspect the machine, replace cracked parts and can show you how to winterize it, which matters most on Fraser Valley and Sea-to-Sky patios.
Our Scotsman warranty-authorized technicians cover diagnosis, genuine Scotsman parts, descaling and sanitizing for home and commercial machines across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, with Sea-to-Sky homes and hospitality kitchens served from Whistler.

Scotsman Ice Maker Repair FAQ
Do you handle Scotsman warranty repairs?
Yes. As a warranty-authorized Scotsman service provider, we complete eligible repairs under the manufacturer's warranty. When you book, have the model and serial number and your proof of purchase ready so we can confirm coverage. Out-of-warranty machines are quoted by the same technicians after inspection.
How often should a Scotsman ice machine be cleaned and sanitized?
At least every six months, which is Scotsman's recommendation, and more often with harder water or in dusty, greasy or outdoor locations. Use Scotsman-approved scale remover and sanitizer, since household cleaners can damage components and leave residues in the ice.
My nugget ice smells or tastes off. Is the machine failing?
Usually not. Off flavours tend to come from biofilm in the water system, an overdue water filter or ice that has sat in the bin too long. A full sanitizing procedure and a fresh filter normally fix it, although we also check that the drain is clearing properly.
