Warranty-authorized service provider

The go-to technicians for Faber range hoods & ventilation in BC

Fix Cheetah is authorized to perform Faber manufacturer-warranty repairs, and we fix out-of-warranty Faber appliances with the same training and genuine parts.

Faber range hood repair often goes beyond the hood itself. Faber is an Italian ventilation specialist, and its North American lineup spans wall chimney hoods, island hoods, custom inserts built into millwork, under-cabinet models and downdraft systems that rise from behind the cooktop at the push of a button. Many Faber hoods offer variable-speed touch controls, LED lighting, heat sensors that boost the fan automatically, and auto shut-off. Higher-capacity installations often use an inline or remote blower mounted in the ceiling, attic or on the roof. That keeps noise out of the kitchen, but puts the motor somewhere less accessible. Most models can be ducted outdoors or set up to recirculate with charcoal filters.

As a warranty-authorized Faber service provider, Fix Cheetah repairs covered hoods with genuine parts and handles the claim directly with the manufacturer. After the warranty, we keep servicing Faber hoods as paid repairs with a quote after inspection. Our technicians check the ducting, damper and makeup air along with the hood, because weak extraction is often a ducting, damper or makeup air problem in modern airtight homes. We service Faber hoods in Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey and the Fraser Valley, and our Whistler team handles Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton. Remote areas are served on scheduled trips.

5 Most Common Faber Range Hood Issues and How to Fix Them

Faber range hood not sucking up smoke

When a Faber hood runs but smoke still drifts past it, the airflow is usually being choked somewhere. Saturated filters, a backdraft damper stuck partly shut, a crushed or undersized duct, or a tight modern house with no makeup air will all do it. Clean the filters first. Then crack a window and run the hood on high: if it suddenly pulls much harder, makeup air is the issue. We trace the duct and damper before blaming the blower motor, so you don't pay for a motor you didn't need.

Faber inline blower not working

Many larger Faber installations use an inline or remote blower in the ceiling, attic or on the roof. If the hood's lights and controls work but nothing moves air, that remote blower is the first suspect: a failed motor, a weak capacitor or a loose connection somewhere along the wiring run. Check whether the blower has its own breaker, since some installations do. Don't climb onto a roof or into a tight attic to reach it. We test the motor, the capacitor and the control signal from the hood.

Faber downdraft won't go up

A Faber downdraft rises from behind the cooktop on a lift motor and stops at limit switches. If it won't rise, stops partway or won't retract, the lift motor, a limit switch or the control may have failed, or debris and grease have jammed the track. With the breaker off, look along the opening for a utensil or food that's fallen in, and clear it. Never force the chimney up or down by hand, because that strips the drive. We check the mechanism and the electronics together.

Faber range hood turns on by itself

Many Faber hoods have a heat sensor that starts or boosts the fan automatically when the cooktop gets hot. That's normal, and it may keep running until things cool down. If the fan switches on with the cooktop cold, or the touch controls ignore you, grease and steam on the panel or a faulty heat sensor or control board are the usual causes. Clean the panel with a mild degreaser on a soft cloth and dry it well. We test the sensor and board to find the fault.

Faber range hood dripping water

Grease dripping from a Faber hood means the filters are saturated. Water dripping in winter is a different problem: warm, moist cooking air condenses in ducts that run through cold attics or exterior walls, then runs back down into the hood. Clean or replace the filters first. If the drips return during cold snaps, the duct may need insulation, a better slope toward the outside or a damper that seals properly. We find the source before suggesting any changes to the duct.

We'll check the whole ventilation path, fit genuine Faber parts under warranty or as a quoted repair, and look after hoods from Vancouver and the North Shore to the Fraser Valley and Whistler.

Faber Range Hood Repair FAQ

What should I have ready for a Faber warranty repair?

Have the model and serial number from the label inside the hood, usually visible after removing the filters, and your proof of purchase. Let us know whether the hood uses an internal, inline or remote blower and whether it's ducted or recirculating.

Does my Faber hood need makeup air?

High-capacity hoods in modern, airtight homes can struggle without a source of replacement air, and local building requirements may apply. If your hood seems weak or doors whistle when it runs, we can assess the setup and advise.

How often should Faber filters be cleaned?

Clean metal or baffle filters about once a month with regular cooking, more often if you fry or wok-cook frequently. Recirculating hoods also need charcoal filters replaced on schedule.
