5 Most Common Falmec Range Hood Issues and How to Fix Them
Falmec range hood remote not working
Falmec ceiling and island hoods often rely on a remote, so when it stops working the hood can seem completely dead. Start with fresh batteries and try again standing closer, in line with the hood. Then switch the hood's breaker off for a minute and back on, and re-pair the remote following your manual. If the hood still ignores the remote but responds to its own controls, the receiver board is likely failing. We test the receiver, then re-pair or replace the remote as needed.
Falmec range hood rattling
Perimeter-suction Falmec hoods draw air around the edges of a glass or steel panel, and that panel has to sit evenly on its fixings. A clip that has worked loose, or a panel that's slipped out of line, rattles at higher speeds and lets air bypass the gap, so suction drops as well. With the hood off, press gently on each corner of the panel to find the loose one. Don't remove a glass panel on your own. We refit or replace the clips and realign the panel.
Falmec recirculating hood not removing odours
In recirculating mode, a Falmec hood relies on its odour filter, often a Carbon.Zeo carbon-and-zeolite filter, and on some models the E.ion module. Lingering cooking smells usually mean the filter is due for regeneration in the oven, or has reached the end of its life. Regenerate or replace it as your manual describes, and clean the metal grease filters at the same time. If odours persist with fresh filters, the E.ion module or the airflow path needs checking by a technician.
Falmec range hood loud
A Falmec hood that has grown louder over time usually has grease on the impeller or worn motor bearings. Grease throws the blower wheel off balance, which shows up as vibration and a rising hum at higher speeds. Clean the grease filters and check they're latched properly, because a loose filter buzzes too. If the noise stays, the impeller needs cleaning and balancing, and a worn motor needs replacing. For ceiling and island hoods, we bring access equipment and protect the counters below.
Falmec range hood lights flickering
Falmec hood lighting runs through an LED driver, and when the driver starts failing you'll see flicker, dimming that no longer works, or lights that come on late. A loose connection after a filter change can do the same thing. Switch the hood off at the breaker, wait a minute and restore power. If the flicker returns, the driver and wiring need testing before any LED module is replaced. Dimmer and remote faults can be checked during the same visit.
