LG range hood repair usually involves LG and LG Studio wall-mount chimney hoods, made in 30- and 36-inch widths with a low-profile body, high-capacity blowers of around 600 CFM on some models, multi-speed touch controls, dual-level LED lighting and Wi-Fi connectivity through the ThinQ app. They're designed to sit above LG ranges and cooktops in kitchens where the hood is a visible design element. Like any hood, performance depends as much on the filters, damper and ductwork as on the motor. And the electronics are exposed to steam and grease every time you cook.

5 Most Common LG Range Hood Issues and How to Fix Them
LG range hood weak suction
LG chimney hoods can move a lot of air, around 600 CFM on some models, so weak suction usually means something is in the way. Grease-loaded filters, a backdraft damper stuck partly shut, grease on the blower wheel or a duct that's too small for the hood all cut airflow and add noise. Wash the filters and check that the damper moves freely wherever you can reach it with the power off. We clean and check the airflow path before considering any motor replacement.
LG range hood touch controls not working
Steam and grease drift straight up into LG's touch panel, and over time they can affect the panel and its connections. If buttons stop responding, or only work some of the time, clean the panel with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it. Then reset the hood at the breaker for a minute. Still unreliable? The touch panel or the control board behind it is tested and, if faulty, replaced. Don't open the control housing yourself.
LG range hood light flickering
LG hoods use dual-level LED lighting with its own driver circuit. A flicker, one brightness level not working, or lights going out altogether usually means a failed LED module, driver or connector. Heavy cooking right under the hood, such as wok frying at high heat, shortens their life. Reset at the breaker and try both brightness levels. If the fault stays, we test the driver and connectors before replacing the LED module, so you only pay for the part that's actually gone.
LG range hood not connecting to ThinQ
If your LG hood has vanished from the ThinQ app, a new router, a changed Wi-Fi password or a 5 GHz-only network is usually to blame, since LG's smart appliances connect on 2.4 GHz. Check that your router broadcasts a 2.4 GHz band, remove the hood from the app and pair it again. Power-cycle the hood at the breaker if it won't enter pairing mode. If it never shows up in the app at all, we check the hood's Wi-Fi module.
LG range hood rattling when off
Cold drafts or a tapping sound with the hood switched off mean the backdraft damper isn't closing. It may be stuck open with grease, bent or simply worn out, either at the hood or at the exterior wall cap. On exposed coastal and mountain walls, wind makes it obvious. With the power off, check that the damper flap moves freely where you can reach it. If the wall cap is the problem, that's usually a ladder job, so leave it to us.

How often should I clean my LG hood filters?
For everyday cooking, roughly once a month is a good rule, and more often if you fry or wok-cook regularly. Most metal hood filters can go through the dishwasher, but check your manual first. Clean filters protect the blower and keep grease out of the ductwork.
Will a more powerful hood need make-up air?
Possibly. Higher-capacity exhaust can depressurize a well-sealed house and may require make-up air under local building requirements. We can assess your existing setup and explain what to ask your contractor or municipality when upgrading.
Can my LG hood be switched from ducted to recirculating?
Some models accept a recirculation kit with charcoal filters, but not all. We check your model and the space available. Ducting outdoors is generally more effective, so recirculation is usually chosen when ducting is not practical, as in some condos.
