Warranty-authorized service provider

The go-to technicians for Frigidaire range hoods & ventilation in BC

Fix Cheetah is authorized to perform Frigidaire manufacturer-warranty repairs, and we fix out-of-warranty Frigidaire appliances with the same training and genuine parts.

Frigidaire range hood repair is usually practical work on two styles: under-cabinet models in standard widths, and wall-mount chimney hoods in the Frigidaire Gallery and Frigidaire Professional lines, designed to match the brand's ranges and cooktops. Most can be ducted outside or set up to recirculate with charcoal filters, depending on the installation. Under-cabinet hoods are compact and use simple fan and light switches or electronic controls. Chimney hoods use larger blowers and stainless baffle or mesh filters. A hood that seems weak, loud or dead often has as much to do with ducting and filters as with the hood itself.

As a warranty-authorized Frigidaire provider, Fix Cheetah repairs range hoods under eligible manufacturer warranty and on a paid basis after coverage ends. We test the fan motor, capacitor, switches, controls and lighting, check the damper and duct run, and quote before chargeable work. Replacement parts are genuine Frigidaire. Our technicians work in houses, townhomes and condos across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley from our Surrey base, in the Sea-to-Sky corridor from Whistler, and in more remote areas by scheduled trip.

5 Most Common Frigidaire Range Hood Issues and How to Fix Them

Frigidaire range hood fan not working

If the light works but the fan doesn't, the fault is in the fan circuit: the blower motor, its start capacitor, the fan switch or, on electronic models, the control board. A motor that hums without spinning often has a weak capacitor or seized bearings. Check the breaker, and if your hood plugs into an outlet in the cabinet above, check that too. With the power off and the filters out, spin the fan wheel by hand; stiffness suggests the motor. We test power at the motor before choosing parts.

Frigidaire range hood weak suction

Weak suction on a Frigidaire hood is rarely the motor. Clogged mesh or baffle filters, a backdraft damper that sticks, and a long or kinked duct run are much more likely. On recirculating installs, a spent charcoal filter cuts performance sharply. Wash the metal filters in hot soapy water or the dishwasher, and replace the charcoal filter if it's old. Then hold a tissue under the hood on high. If the draw is still feeble, we check the damper and the duct.

Frigidaire range hood noisy

Rattling, humming or a flutter from a Frigidaire hood usually comes from a loose blower housing, a fan wheel that's cracked or coated in grease, or a damper flapping in the wind. Check that the filters are seated and latched, since a loose one vibrates. If the noise changes with fan speed, it's the blower. If it happens with the fan off on windy days, it's the damper or the wall cap outside. We tighten, balance or replace the parts responsible.

Frigidaire range hood light not working

A dark cooktop can mean a burned-out bulb or LED module, a failed light switch or a loose connection. On older under-cabinet models with replaceable bulbs, switch off the power, let the bulb cool and swap it for one of the type and wattage shown on the hood's label. Integrated LED modules aren't meant to be replaced by owners on most models. If a new bulb doesn't help, or the LEDs flicker, we test whether the light itself or the control is at fault.

Frigidaire range hood stuck on one speed

A Frigidaire hood that won't change speed, or won't turn off, usually has a failed speed switch, a stuck relay on the control board or a worn button contact. Grease on electronic controls can also make buttons stick or stop responding. Clean the switch area with a damp cloth and a mild degreaser, then dry it well. If the fan still runs at one speed only, or keeps going after you switch it off, cut power at the breaker and book a repair.

When clean filters don't fix it, we diagnose the hood and its ducting, replace parts with genuine Frigidaire components under warranty or as a quoted repair, and serve homes across Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and Sea-to-Sky.

Frigidaire Range Hood Repair FAQ

What should I have ready for a Frigidaire range hood warranty claim?

Have the model and serial number from the label inside the hood, usually visible after removing the grease filters, and proof of purchase showing the date and retailer. As a warranty-authorized provider we confirm coverage with Frigidaire and quote anything outside it before work begins.

How often should I clean my range hood filters?

Metal grease filters should be cleaned roughly monthly with regular cooking, and charcoal filters on recirculating hoods replaced periodically. Clean filters improve suction and protect the fan motor.

Can you help if my hood vents poorly because of the ductwork?

Yes. We check whether the damper opens freely and whether the duct size and run suit the hood. We will explain what can be improved and repair the hood itself if needed.
