Warranty-authorized service provider
The go-to technicians for GE range hoods & ventilation in BC
Fix Cheetah is authorized to perform GE manufacturer-warranty repairs, and we fix out-of-warranty GE appliances with the same training and genuine parts.
GE range hood repair covers under-cabinet models and wall-mount chimney hoods in 30-inch and 36-inch widths. GE Profile under-cabinet hoods offer multi-speed fans, LED lighting and GlassTouch controls, and some can pair with compatible GE ranges through Chef Connect so the fan and light switch on automatically. Most models can be ducted outside or set up to recirculate with charcoal filters. A GE hood only performs as well as its fan, filters, damper and duct run working together.
As a warranty-authorized GE provider, Fix Cheetah repairs range hoods under eligible manufacturer warranty and on a paid basis once coverage ends. We test fan motors, capacitors, switches, lighting and touch controls, check that the damper opens freely and look at the duct run, then quote before any chargeable work. Repairs use genuine GE parts. Our technicians work in houses, townhomes and condos across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley from Surrey, in the Sea-to-Sky corridor from Whistler, and in remote locations on scheduled trips.

5 Most Common GE Range Hood Issues and How to Fix Them
GE range hood fan not working
When a GE hood's fan won't start, check the breaker, then try the lights. If the lights work, power is reaching the hood, and the fault lies with the blower motor, its capacitor, the fan switch or the control board. A motor that hums without turning usually has a capacitor or bearing problem. With the breaker off and the filters out, see whether the blower wheel turns freely by hand. We test power at the motor so you know whether the motor or the controls failed.
GE range hood not pulling smoke
A GE hood that roars but leaves smoke hanging usually has an airflow restriction: grease-loaded filters, a damper stuck shut, a duct that's too small or too long, or a crushed section in the attic. On recirculating installs, a spent charcoal filter is a common culprit. Wash the metal filters, replace the charcoal one if it's past due, and look outside to see whether the wall cap flap opens when the fan runs. If it doesn't, we check the damper and duct.
GE Profile range hood touch controls not working
GE Profile GlassTouch controls sit right in the path of steam and grease rising from the cooktop. Over time that can make buttons ignore you, respond slowly or trigger on their own. Clean the glass with a soft cloth and a mild cleaner, dry it, and reset the breaker for a minute. If the panel still won't respond, the touch panel and the control board are tested separately, so only the failed part is replaced. Repeated failures can also point to a hood mounted unusually low over a hot cooktop.
GE range hood not turning on with the range
Chef Connect lets a compatible GE range switch the hood's fan and light on automatically. When that stops working, the pairing has often dropped after a power outage, or a control on one of the two appliances has failed. Check that the hood still works from its own buttons, then re-pair the two using the steps in your manual. If the hood won't pair, or keeps losing the connection, we re-pair them ourselves and test the controls on both.
GE range hood light not working
Most current GE hoods use LED modules, with a driver and a light switch or touch key controlling them. A dim light, one dead side or a flicker usually points to a failing module or driver. Older models with bulbs just need a matching replacement, fitted with the power off and the old bulb cool. If new bulbs don't help, or the LEDs are built in, we test the light circuit to see whether the light or the control is at fault.
If the fan, lights or Chef Connect still won't cooperate, we diagnose the hood and its ducting, replace parts with genuine GE components as warranty or paid work, and serve Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and Whistler.

GE Range Hood Repair FAQ
What should I have ready for GE range hood warranty service?
Have the model and serial number from the label inside the hood, usually behind the filters, and proof of purchase with the date and retailer. As a GE warranty-authorized provider, we confirm what the warranty covers and price anything else upfront for your approval.
How often should I clean the filters?
With regular cooking, clean metal grease filters about once a month; most are dishwasher-safe. On recirculating hoods, replace charcoal filters periodically, as they cannot be washed.
Can you help with poor venting caused by ductwork?
Yes. We check whether the damper opens freely and whether the duct size and length suit the hood, explain what could be improved, and repair the hood itself if it has a fault.
