Whirlpool range hood fan not working
Whirlpool hoods keep things simple, with one blower, a speed switch or basic electronic control, and washable filters. So when the fan is dead or one speed is missing, the switch is often to blame before the motor. Check the breaker and try every speed. If the light works but the fan doesn't, power is reaching the hood. A hum with no spin points to the motor or its capacitor instead. We test the switch before condemning the motor, which keeps the repair as small as it can be.
Whirlpool range hood light not working
Most Whirlpool hood lights are LED modules or bulbs on a simple switch. If a light goes out, check which type you have; with the power off and the bulb cool, try a matching replacement bulb. If a new bulb doesn't help, or an LED module stays dark, the switch or a wiring connection has probably failed. We replace the module or switch, and check that the hood's power supply is steady while we're there.

A hum or vibration that grows over months usually means a worn motor bearing, or a fan wheel so coated in grease that it's out of balance. Loose mounting screws and a filter that isn't latched can add a rattle on top. Clean the filters and, with the breaker off, tighten any screws you can reach. If the hum continues, the fan wheel needs cleaning or replacing and the motor needs checking. We find out which before quoting.

If smoke and cooking smells hang around, airflow is restricted. Clogged grease filters, expired charcoal filters on a recirculating hood, a stuck damper, or a long and narrow duct are the usual causes. With the power off, check whether the damper above the blower moves freely and closes on its own; grease build-up can hold it open.
