Appliance emergencies rarely happen at a convenient time. A dishwasher supply line lets go at 11 at night, a freezer full of meat stops running on a long weekend, or the dryer starts to smell like something is burning. Fix Cheetah is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we provide emergency appliance repair in Vancouver and across Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and beyond.
When you call, a real person helps you work out how urgent the problem is and what to do right now to keep your home and family safe and limit damage. Then we send a technician as quickly as we can.
Safety comes first. Some situations belong with your gas utility or emergency services before they become an appliance repair, and we'll always tell you when that's the case.
If You Smell Gas
If you smell gas, which natural gas utilities give a rotten egg odour so it can be detected, do not try to find the source and do not call us first. Leave the home immediately with everyone, including pets. Do not turn lights or appliances on or off, do not use phones inside, and do not start a vehicle in an attached garage.
Once you are safely outside and away from the building, call FortisBC's emergency line or 911. After the utility has made the area safe, our licensed gas technicians can diagnose and repair the range, dryer, fireplace or other gas appliance, with all work done to BC code and Technical Safety BC requirements.
Burning Smells, Smoke and Sparks
A burning smell from an appliance needs immediate attention. Turn the appliance off and, if you can do it safely, unplug it or switch off its breaker. If there is smoke, flame or you feel unsafe, get out and call 911.
Common causes include lint igniting near a dryer heating element, a failed motor or wiring overheating in a dishwasher or range hood, an oven element shorting out, or melted wiring at a range terminal block. Do not use the appliance again until it has been inspected. Our technicians will find the cause, make it safe and repair it where possible.
Leaks and Flooding
Water from a washer, dishwasher or fridge can damage floors, cabinets and ceilings below within minutes, especially in condos and townhomes. Shut off the water supply to the appliance, usually a valve behind or beneath it, or the main shut-off if you cannot find it. Turn the appliance off, cut power at the breaker if water is near outlets, and start soaking up what you can.
We find and fix the source, whether it is a burst supply hose, a split door boot, a failed pump seal, a cracked dishwasher tub or a leaking fridge water line, and we can document the damage and cause for your insurer or strata.
- Shut off the water to the appliance or the main supply
- Turn off power at the breaker if water is near electrical connections
- Tell your building manager or strata if you live in a multi-unit building
- Take photos for insurance before cleaning up
Fridge or Freezer Down With Food at Risk
A closed fridge generally keeps food cold for about four hours, and a full freezer can stay frozen for much longer if the door stays shut. Keep the doors closed, move the most perishable items such as meat, dairy and medications into a cooler with ice, and check whether a breaker has tripped or a GFCI outlet in the garage has cut out.
Our technicians carry common refrigeration parts, including evaporator and condenser fan motors, defrost heaters, thermostats, start relays and control components, so many fridge emergencies are resolved on the first visit.
Our 24-Hour Emergency Response
We answer around the clock, triage the problem on the phone and dispatch the nearest available technician. Before any work starts you receive a clear diagnosis and a transparent upfront quote, and completed repairs carry our 30-day parts and workmanship warranty. For businesses, property managers and strata, we can follow your after-hours approval process.
