About Sub-Zero

Sub-Zero was founded in 1945 in Madison, Wisconsin, by Westye Bakke, who began by building a freezer to keep a family member's insulin cold. The company remains family-owned and headquartered in the Madison area. In 2000 it acquired Wolf's residential cooking line, and today the Sub-Zero Group also includes Cove dishwashers, with the three brands designed and sold together as a luxury kitchen suite.

Sub-Zero is known for built-in and integrated refrigeration designed to sit flush with cabinetry, using a dual refrigeration system that cools the fresh-food and freezer sections separately. Its range includes column refrigerators and freezers, built-in side-by-side and over-and-under models, undercounter refrigerators and drawers, wine storage and ice makers. Because of dual refrigeration, one section can fail while the other keeps working. A failed evaporator fan, defrost fault or control issue in the fresh-food system is diagnosed on its own.

No. Covered Sub-Zero repairs go through the manufacturer's authorized service. For units outside coverage, we can diagnose and repair them, and we can help you check where you stand.

How often should my Sub-Zero condenser be cleaned?

Sub-Zero's own guidance is roughly every six to twelve months, and more often if you have pets. Renovation dust clogs it quickly too. We can clean it as part of a maintenance visit if the grille is awkward to reach.
