About GE

GE's appliance business grew out of General Electric, the American industrial company with roots in Thomas Edison's era, and it has made household appliances for more than a century, including the Monitor-Top refrigerator of the late 1920s. In 2016 GE Appliances, headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, was sold to Haier, which continues to develop and build products under the GE name for North American homes.

A frozen fill tube, a failed water inlet valve or a clogged filter stops ice production. On French-door models, a failing ice-compartment fan can also cause clumping.
