About Maytag

Maytag was founded in 1893 in Newton, Iowa, by Frederick L. Maytag and partners, who started out making farm implements. The company introduced its first washing machine in 1907, and laundry soon became its core business. Its advertising character, the lonely Maytag repairman with nothing to fix, ran for decades and built the brand's reputation for dependability. Whirlpool Corporation acquired Maytag in 2006.

Maytag remains one of Whirlpool's mainstream brands in Canada, with an emphasis on heavy-duty construction and capacity.
