Factory-trained technicians
The go-to technicians for Whirlpool washing machines in BC
Our technicians are factory-trained on Whirlpool, so we know the platforms, diagnostics and service procedures, in warranty or out.
Whirlpool washer repair is something we do in every kind of BC home, from basement suites to large family laundry rooms. The lineup includes top-loaders with a full agitator, a removable 2-in-1 agitator or a low-profile impeller, plus front-loaders and compact models for small laundry spaces. Many have Load & Go, a bulk detergent dispenser that holds enough for several weeks. Whirlpool top-loaders share their platform with Maytag, Amana and Inglis, and older direct-drive models are still common in BC rentals. Newer washers report faults with codes such as F8 E1 for a long fill and F9 E1 for a long drain.
Fix Cheetah's factory-trained technicians use Whirlpool's service mode to run the washer through each step, so we can see whether the problem is the shifter, the motor, the pump or the lid lock. We service Whirlpool washers in homes, basement suites and multi-unit rentals across Vancouver, New Westminster, Burnaby, Surrey, Langley, Mission and Abbotsford, and our Whistler team covers Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton. Property managers can book us for several suites in one trip. Every repair comes with a quote after inspection, and we only proceed once you approve it.

5 Most Common Whirlpool Washer Issues and How to Fix Them
Whirlpool washer not spinning or agitating
On newer Whirlpool top-loaders, a failed shifter or a drive motor fault is the common cause. On older direct-drive models, a broken motor coupler or worn agitator dogs stop movement while the motor still hums. Close the lid firmly, rebalance the load, and unplug the washer for a minute to reset the control. If you hear the motor run but the basket or agitator doesn't move, the coupler or shifter has likely failed and needs a technician's diagnosis.
Whirlpool washer F9 E1 error
F9 E1 means the washer took too long to drain. A sock or small item in the pump, a kinked drain hose or a clogged standpipe in the wall is usually behind it, and a failed pump is the next suspect. Unplug the washer, pull it out enough to check the drain hose along its whole length, and make sure the hose isn't pushed too far into the standpipe. Bail out standing water first if needed. F9 E1 again after all that usually means a tired drain pump, which we test before replacing.
Whirlpool washer lid lock flashing
Whirlpool top-loaders lock the lid before spinning. A flashing Lid Locked light means the latch couldn't engage, so the cycle pauses. Clothing caught under the lid, a bent striker on the lid or a worn lid lock assembly are the usual causes. Close the lid firmly and check that nothing is hanging over the tub rim. Unplug for a minute to reset. If the light keeps flashing, the lid lock or its wiring needs replacing, and the lock should never be bypassed.
Whirlpool washer banging during spin
Worn suspension rods on top-loaders, or shocks and springs on front-loaders, let the tub knock against the cabinet, especially with bulky loads like comforters. An unlevel washer makes it worse. Unplug the washer and push on each top corner: if it rocks, adjust the feet. Wash heavy items with a few towels so the weight spreads evenly. If banging continues with normal loads, the suspension parts are worn and should be replaced as a set.
Whirlpool front load washer F5 E2 error
F5 E2 means the control tried to lock the door and never got confirmation that the latch closed. Often something is physically in the way: a fold of the door seal, a sock or a strap caught at the strike. Open the door, clear the gasket and latch area, then close it firmly until it clicks. Unplug for five minutes to clear the fault. If F5 E2 keeps returning on a properly closed door, the door lock assembly has failed and needs replacing by a technician.
If the code or the shaking comes back, our Whirlpool factory-trained technicians run the service mode, find the failed part and replace it, for Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana and Inglis washers across Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and Sea-to-Sky.

Whirlpool Washer Repair FAQ
What does F8 E1 mean on my Whirlpool washer?
F8 E1 means the washer isn't filling fast enough. Check that both taps are fully open and the hoses aren't kinked. If the water supply is fine, the inlet valve screens may be clogged or the valve or pressure sensor may have failed. We test each one.
Why does my Whirlpool top-loader fill and drain but not agitate?
Usually a failed shifter on newer models, or worn agitator dogs or a broken motor coupler on older direct-drive models. The shifter switches the drive between agitate and spin, so when it fails the washer can still fill and drain. Both are common repairs that usually cost far less than a new washer.
Do you repair Maytag, Amana and Inglis washers?
Yes. These Whirlpool-family brands share many washer platforms and parts, so our factory training on Whirlpool applies directly. We regularly repair all of them, especially in rental properties.
