Factory-trained technicians
The go-to technicians for Whirlpool dryers in BC
Our technicians are factory-trained on Whirlpool, so we know the platforms, diagnostics and service procedures, in warranty or out.
Whirlpool dryer repair is often simpler than people expect. Whirlpool dryers in Canada come in electric and gas versions, as full-size pairs to match top-load or front-load washers and as compact stackables for condos. The core design is shared with Maytag, Amana and Inglis and uses well-known, serviceable parts: a thermal fuse, cycling and high-limit thermostats, a heating element or gas burner, drum rollers and an idler pulley. Many models have moisture-sensing auto dry and a wrinkle-prevention tumble at the end of the cycle, and some have a Check Vent light that comes on when airflow is low.
Our factory-trained technicians look at how the dryer is running before deciding which part has failed. A Whirlpool that keeps blowing thermal fuses is usually telling you the vent is restricted, which is common in older Vancouver homes and condos with long duct runs. Gas dryers are serviced by gas-certified technicians to BC code. We cover Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley from Surrey, and Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton from our Whistler base. When the repair is done, we run a heating cycle and measure exhaust temperature to confirm it's working.

5 Most Common Whirlpool Dryer Issues and How to Fix Them
Whirlpool dryer not heating
On electric Whirlpool dryers, an open thermal fuse is the first suspect, followed by a burned-out heating element or a failed high-limit thermostat. Gas models more often need new valve coils or an igniter. Check that both halves of the breaker are on and the lint screen is clean, then feel whether warm air is coming out of the exterior hood. If there's a gas odour, leave the house and call FortisBC's emergency number. A blown fuse means the vent needs attention as well as the part, so we check both.
Whirlpool dryer Check Vent light on
On models that have it, Check Vent lights up when the dryer senses low airflow at the start of an automatic cycle. Lint in the duct, a crushed foil hose, too many elbows in the run, or an outside hood blocked by lint or a shrub are typical causes. Clean the lint screen, check the hood flap and replace plastic or foil hose with rigid or semi-rigid metal duct. Lint-choked ducts are a fire hazard. If the light stays on with a clear vent, we test the sensor and controls.
Whirlpool dryer squealing or thumping
Whirlpool drums ride on support rollers at the back, and those rollers wear flat and thump with every turn. A squeal that rises as the drum speeds up usually comes from a dry idler pulley, and a belt with a flat spot slaps. Unplug the dryer and check that nothing is caught between the drum and the front panel. Running it until a roller seizes can damage the belt and motor, so book a repair once the noise is constant. We replace rollers, pulley and belt as a set.
Whirlpool dryer won't start
Check the breaker first, because a 240-volt dryer can lose one leg and still light its panel. If the panel lights but nothing happens, a failed door switch, a blown thermal fuse or a bad start switch is likely, and on models with a belt switch, a snapped belt stops the motor from starting at all. Close the door firmly and confirm Control Lock is off. Past those checks, the switches, fuse and belt need professional testing, and we look at the vent whenever the fuse has blown.
Whirlpool dryer overheating or scorching clothes
Clothes coming out too hot to touch, or a burning smell, points to a cycling thermostat stuck closed, a heating element shorted to the cabinet, or a vent so blocked that heat can't escape. Treat this one as urgent. Stop the dryer, unplug it and clean the lint screen, then leave it off until it's been checked, because overheating next to lint is how dryer fires start. A technician needs to test the thermostats and element and inspect the vent before you use it again.
Factory-trained technicians work out why your Whirlpool dryer failed, replace the worn or blown part and inspect the vent behind it, with visits across Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and Squamish through Pemberton.

Whirlpool Dryer Repair FAQ
Why does my Whirlpool dryer keep blowing thermal fuses?
Because it's overheating, and restricted airflow is almost always why: lint in the vent, a crushed hose or a blocked exterior hood. The fuse is a one-time safety part, so we replace it, test the thermostats and element, and check the vent so the problem doesn't come back.
Do you repair Whirlpool gas dryers?
Yes. Gas-certified technicians repair Whirlpool gas dryers to BC code, including igniters, flame sensors and gas valve coils. We leak-test the connections and confirm the burner cycles properly before leaving.
Can you fix stacked Whirlpool laundry in a condo closet?
Yes. Stacked and compact Whirlpool pairs in tight spaces are a regular job for us. Sometimes the dryer has to come off the washer to reach the back panel or vent connection, and we bring the right equipment to do that safely.
