Warranty-authorized service provider
The go-to technicians for GE microwaves in BC
Fix Cheetah is authorized to perform GE manufacturer-warranty repairs, and we fix out-of-warranty GE appliances with the same training and genuine parts.
GE microwave repair covers a wide lineup: over-the-range models with built-in vent fans and cooktop lights, countertop and built-in models with trim kits, and GE Profile microwave drawers. GE Profile over-the-range models can offer sensor cooking, convection and Chef Connect pairing with compatible GE ranges, which switches the vent and light on automatically. GE Profile also makes Advantium speed ovens that combine microwave with halogen and convection heat. All of them hold dangerous high voltage even when unplugged, so the inside is technician territory.
Fix Cheetah is warranty-authorized for GE and repairs microwaves under eligible warranty and after coverage ends. We test the magnetron and high-voltage components, door switches, vent fans and controls, then quote before chargeable work, using genuine GE parts. If a repair isn't worthwhile, we'll tell you and can install a replacement. Our Surrey team serves Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, our Whistler team covers Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton, and remote areas are served on scheduled trips.

5 Most Common GE Microwave Issues and How to Fix Them
GE microwave not heating
When a GE microwave lights up, turns and hums but the food stays cold, the magnetron, the high-voltage diode, the capacitor or the transformer has usually failed. A door switch that's starting to go can also cut power to the high-voltage side while everything else runs. Try a mug of water for a minute and make sure the door shuts firmly. Leave the cabinet closed, though. That capacitor can hold a charge strong enough to kill, so the testing has to be done by a technician.
GE over-the-range microwave fan turning on by itself
GE over-the-range models switch the vent fan on automatically when they sense heat from the cooktop, and with Chef Connect the range can turn it on too. Both are normal. If the fan runs with the cooktop off and cold, a thermostat stuck closed or a relay fault on the control board is likely. Switch off the breaker for a few minutes to reset it, and check whether a burner or the oven below is still warm. If it keeps running, we test the thermostat and board.
GE microwave vent fan or light not working
The exhaust fan motor, its thermal protection and the cooktop lights on a GE over-the-range model are separate from the cooking circuit, so they can fail while the microwave still heats. Grease is hard on the fan: clogged filters make the motor run hot and wear out sooner. With the power off at the breaker, wash the metal grease filters and replace the cooktop bulb if your model uses one. If the fan is silent or grinding, the motor or its control relay needs replacing.
GE microwave turntable not turning
Most of the time a still turntable is a mechanical slip: the coupler under the tray has come off its shaft, the roller ring is out of place, or spilled food has glued it down. Lift out the tray and ring, clean the cavity floor, check the coupler for cracks and reseat everything. If it all looks right and the tray still won't move, the turntable motor has likely failed. Uneven heating follows, and replacing the motor is a technician job because it sits under the cavity.
GE Profile microwave drawer won't open or close
A GE Profile microwave drawer moves on a motorized drive, with a gear, a rack and position switches that tell it when it's fully open or shut. A worn gear, a failed drive motor or a switch out of adjustment can stop it partway, and a utensil caught at the back can jam it. Make sure the control lock is off and reset the power at the breaker. Don't pull or push the drawer by force. If it still sticks, the drive and switches need professional diagnosis.
From an Advantium that won't heat to a Profile drawer stuck halfway, we diagnose GE microwaves in your kitchen and fit genuine GE components, under warranty when it applies, across Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and Sea-to-Sky.

GE Microwave Repair FAQ
What do I need for a GE microwave warranty claim?
Have the model and serial number from the label inside the door frame, plus proof of purchase with the date and retailer. As a warranty-authorized provider, we confirm coverage with GE Appliances. Countertop models may be handled differently, so we'll let you know when you call.
Do you repair GE Advantium ovens?
Yes. GE Profile Advantium speed ovens combine microwave power, halogen lamps and convection heat. Each system has its own components, so we test them one at a time to find exactly which has failed.
Is it worth repairing a GE over-the-range microwave?
In many cases, yes, because replacing one involves new mounting brackets, venting and matching the space above the range. Door switches, fans and turntable motors are usually sensible repairs. On an older unit with a failed magnetron, we'll lay out repair against replacement honestly.
