Warranty-authorized service provider
The go-to technicians for GE dryers in BC
Fix Cheetah is authorized to perform GE manufacturer-warranty repairs, and we fix out-of-warranty GE appliances with the same training and genuine parts.
GE dryer repair at Fix Cheetah covers electric and gas models, standalone or stacked, plus the dryer half of a Spacemaker laundry centre. GE's Sensor Dry uses moisture bars inside the drum to end the cycle once clothes are dry, and GE Profile models add extras such as steam refresh. Inside, the drum rides on front slides and rear rollers or a bearing, turned by a belt and idler pulley, and every one of those wears with use. Gas models light with an igniter and valve coils. Electric ones heat through an element guarded by thermal fuses and thermostats.
Fix Cheetah is warranty-authorized for GE dryers, so eligible units are repaired under warranty and older ones on a paid basis. Gas work is done by gas-certified technicians to BC code. A typical visit means testing the heating system and safety devices, then the motor, drum supports and sensors, plus a look at the vent for restrictions. You get a quote before any chargeable work, and repairs use genuine GE parts. Our Surrey team covers Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, our Whistler-based team covers the Sea-to-Sky corridor, and remote clients are served on scheduled trips.

5 Most Common GE Dryer Issues and How to Fix Them
GE dryer running but not heating
On electric GE dryers, a blown thermal fuse or an open heating element is the usual cause. Gas models more often have a weak igniter, failing valve coils or a flame sensor that shuts the burner off too soon. A fuse that blows almost always means the vent is choked with lint, which is also a fire hazard. Clean the lint screen and check that both breaker legs are on. If there's any gas smell, leave the house and phone FortisBC. Part testing and gas work are jobs for a technician.
GE dryer squeaking or thumping
GE dryers carry the drum on front slides and rear rollers, and when the slide pads wear thin the drum drags with a squeak or scrape. Flat-spotted rollers thump at each turn, and a dry idler pulley squeals. Unplug the dryer and turn the empty drum by hand: grinding or catching tells you it's the supports, not the load. Look for a coin caught in the seam too. Replacing slides, rollers and pulley means opening the cabinet, and doing them as a set prevents a repeat call.
GE Sensor Dry stopping too early
When Sensor Dry ends the cycle with jeans still damp, the moisture bars just inside the drum opening are often coated with fabric softener or dryer-sheet film, so they misread wet clothes as dry. A restricted vent can do the opposite and leave loads running far too long. Unplug the dryer, wipe the bars with a cloth and a little rubbing alcohol, and clean the lint screen. If cycles are still wrong after that, the sensor wiring, thermistor or control board needs professional testing.
GE Spacemaker dryer not starting
In a GE Spacemaker laundry centre the dryer sits on top in a shared cabinet, and a failed door switch, start switch or thermal fuse can leave it dead while the washer below still works. A tripped half of the 240-volt breaker gives the same symptom. Check the breaker, close the dryer door firmly and confirm the controls aren't locked. If it still won't start, the unit usually has to come out of its closet so the switches and fuse can be tested, and we protect the floor and vent connection while we do it.
GE dryer drum not turning
If the motor runs or hums but the drum doesn't move, the drive belt has usually snapped or slipped off the idler pulley. A drum that spins far too easily by hand is the giveaway. Sometimes the motor itself has failed, and you'll hear a buzz with no rotation. Unplug the dryer straight away so the motor doesn't overheat, take out the load and don't force the drum. A new belt and pulley are routine once the cabinet is opened, and we check the rollers while we're in there.

GE Dryer Repair FAQ
What do I need for GE dryer warranty service?
Have the model and serial number from the label inside the door opening, your proof of purchase with the date and retailer, and whether it's gas or electric. As a warranty-authorized provider, we confirm coverage with GE Appliances and quote anything outside it before work begins.
Do you repair GE gas dryers?
Yes. Our gas-certified technicians service GE igniters, valve coils, flame sensors and gas connections to BC code. If you notice a gas smell near the dryer, don't touch any switches. Leave and call FortisBC first, then book the repair.
Why does my GE dryer take so long to dry?
Restricted airflow is the most common reason. Lint in the vent, a crushed hose behind the dryer or a stuck outside flap traps moist air, so loads need two cycles. Clean the lint screen every load and have the vent checked yearly, especially in condos with long runs.
