Miele dishwasher repair is rarely a matter of swapping one part. These are 24-inch built-in machines, many of them fully integrated behind a custom cabinet panel. Handleless models use Knock2open, where two knocks on the door front trigger a motorized opener, and AutoOpen drying pushes the door ajar at the end of a cycle. AutoDos models dose detergent automatically from a PowerDisk, each machine has a built-in water softener with a salt reservoir, and the Waterproof system uses a base float switch and a safety valve on the inlet hose to shut off water if a leak is detected.

5 Most Common Miele Dishwasher Issues and How to Fix Them
Miele dishwasher not draining
Standing water and an F11 fault mean the drain didn't clear. The filter combination at the bottom of the tub is the first suspect, then glass or a bone jammed in the drain pump, a sticking non-return valve, or a drain hose pinched against the cabinet when the machine was slid into place. Switch off the power, lift out the filter combination and rinse it, and check the hose under the sink. If F11 returns with a clean filter, the pump and non-return valve need testing by a technician.
Miele dishwasher F70 Waterproof error
F70 means the Waterproof system has found water in the base pan. The float lifts, the safety valve on the inlet hose closes, and the dishwasher won't run until the leak is fixed and the base is dry. Common sources are a door seal, an internal hose or a suds overflow from the wrong detergent. Switch off the power and look for drips along the door and under the sink, but don't keep resetting the code. A technician needs to find the leak, dry the base and clear the lockout.
Miele AutoDos not dispensing
A PowerDisk that's the wrong type, or one that has absorbed moisture, can cake inside the dosing chamber so no detergent reaches the wash. Check that you're using a genuine PowerDisk, that it clicked into place, and that the AutoDos setting is switched on. Wipe the chamber dry before fitting a fresh disc. If a new disc still isn't detected or the dishes come out unwashed, the dosing motor or its chamber needs testing and servicing.
Miele dishwasher door won't open
Knock2open and AutoOpen both depend on a motorized door opener. The actuator can fail or drift out of adjustment, and a heavy panel or a tight gap to the next cabinet can stop the door moving even when the motor works. Check that the setting hasn't been switched off in the menu and that nothing is pressing on the panel. If the door won't respond to knocks, or AutoOpen has stopped at the end of a cycle, we check the actuator, its sensor and the installation clearances together.
Miele dishwasher leaving white film
A softener set for harder water than you actually have, or a lack of salt where it's needed, leaves white film or etching on glasses. Most of Metro Vancouver has very soft water, while parts of the Fraser Valley and homes on wells are harder, so settings vary. Check your municipal hardness figure against the softener setting, top up the salt if it's needed, and refill the rinse aid. If film persists with correct settings, the softener or rinse-aid dispenser may need servicing.

Do I need to add salt to my Miele dishwasher?
It depends on your water. The softener is programmed for local hardness, and at the softest settings it may need little or no salt. Most Metro Vancouver supplies are very soft, while some Fraser Valley and well-water homes are harder. Your manual and municipal water data help set it correctly.
Can you service a panel-ready Miele without damaging my cabinets?
Yes. Our technicians remove and refit custom panels with care, and they check that the door springs are set for the panel's weight. Incorrect spring tension is a common reason a door drops open or won't stay shut after a renovation.
My Miele dishwasher is still under Miele's warranty. Can you repair it?
Contact Miele first for repairs covered by its manufacturer warranty, since Miele arranges covered service. Once the warranty has ended, or if you choose to go ahead privately, our factory-trained technicians will diagnose the dishwasher and quote the repair before any chargeable work.
