5 Most Common Miele Range and Cooktop Issues and How to Fix Them
Miele gas burner won't stay lit
A Miele burner that lights and then goes out, or keeps re-sparking, usually isn't sensing its own flame. The flame-safety device needs a steady flame touching it, so a cap sitting out of position, a dirty electrode or a strong draft from an open window or a hood on boost can upset it. Once everything is cool, clean and dry the burner parts and seat the cap correctly. If it still won't stay lit, a gas-certified technician tests the flame safety components. Miele induction cooktop not detecting the pan
Miele induction can read a pan's size and, on some models, its temperature, but it still needs a flat, magnetic base. A small pan on a large zone, or a flexible zone set up for a different pan, can leave the display flashing. Check the base with a magnet and try the pan on another zone. A built-in cooktop also needs airflow underneath; anything stored hard against its underside can make it overheat and cut power. If the cookware and airflow are fine, the induction power board needs testing.
Miele dual-fuel range oven not heating
With gas on top and electric ovens below, a Miele dual-fuel range can light every burner perfectly and still have a cold oven. The usual causes are a failed heating element, a temperature sensor reading out of range, or a relay on the electronics that won't switch. Check the M Touch display for a fault message or an active timer, and on 48-inch models note which oven is affected. Switch the breaker off for a minute to reset. If heating doesn't come back, we test each part individually.
Miele range griddle not heating evenly
The griddle on a Miele range has its own heating element and sensor under the plate. When one of them fails, you get cold patches, a plate that never reaches temperature, or one that overshoots and smokes. Let it cool, then scrape and clean the surface so a layer of carbon isn't insulating the plate, and preheat fully before you judge it. Uneven colour across a clean, preheated plate points to the element or sensor. Those sit beneath the griddle, so reaching them is a technician's job.
Miele M Touch display not responding
M Touch is a glass touch display, so grease, a wet cloth or a fingertip-sized splash can make it ignore you or react on its own. Clean it with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it well. After a power cut or an electrical storm, switch the range off at the breaker for a minute and let it restart. If it's still frozen, blank or showing a fault, the display or the control electronics behind it need diagnosis. Don't remove the panel yourself; it's wired to the main electronics.

Do you service Miele rangetops and gas cooktops too?
Yes. Along with dual-fuel ranges, we repair Miele gas rangetops, gas cooktops and induction cooktops. All gas components are serviced by gas-certified technicians to BC code.
Can my cookware cause induction problems?
Yes. Induction needs magnetic cookware with a flat base sized for the zone. Warped, small or non-magnetic pans may not be detected or may heat poorly. Try a magnet on the base; if it sticks firmly, the pan should work.
Why does my Miele hood no longer respond to the cooktop?
Con@ctivity pairing can be lost after a power outage or electronics repair. Re-pairing the hood and cooktop as described in the manual usually restores it. If it still fails, we check the communication module in either appliance.
