5 Most Common Miele Refrigerator Issues and How to Fix Them
Miele fridge not cooling
A MasterCool column draws air in and pushes heat out through the ventilation grille at the base, and Miele asks owners to keep it dust-free. Lint, pet hair or a new kick plate that covers the openings makes the compressor run long and the column warm up. Brush or vacuum the grille gently without pushing tools through it, and don't pull the unit forward. If it's clear and the column still runs constantly, we check the condenser, the DynaCool and evaporator fans, then the sealed system.
Miele ice maker not working
Plumbed Miele ice makers stop when the water filter is restricted, the fill tube freezes or the inlet valve fails, but on a built-in, installation problems are just as common. A supply line crushed when the column was pushed into its niche, or a shut-off valve left half closed after the kitchen was finished, will starve it. Check the ice maker is switched on in the display and the filter is current. If the water side looks right, we test the valve, fill tube and ice maker before replacing anything.
Miele freezer door frosting up
Frost forming at the edge of the freezer door, rather than on the food, almost always means the door isn't closing tight. On panel-ready Miele units, a heavy custom panel that has shifted on its hinges is the usual reason, and a gasket pinched or twisted at one corner is the next. Check whether the panel sits evenly with the cabinets beside it and nothing in the drawers stops the door closing. Leave the hinge adjustment to us. Re-aligning the panel and hinge, or replacing the gasket, fixes it.
Miele PerfectFresh drawer freezing food
PerfectFresh drawers run just above 0°C to keep produce crisp for longer, so there's not much margin. If the drawer's sensor drifts or the airflow into that compartment is wrong, lettuce and herbs start freezing at the edges. Make sure the drawer is set to the right mode for what's in it and that nothing is pressed against the back where the cold air enters. If delicate produce still freezes, we test the sensor and the airflow control for that compartment rather than turning the whole fridge warmer.
Miele fridge alarm beeping
Miele fridges warn you when a door is left open or a compartment temperature rises out of range. The most common cause is simple: a door held slightly open by a shelf, a bottle or a shifted panel. Close every door firmly, then watch whether the temperature reading recovers over a few hours. If the alarm keeps returning with the doors shut, a door switch or temperature sensor may be failing. We check the door first, then the sensor and control readings, so you're not paying for a part that wasn't needed.

Can you repair a built-in Miele fridge without pulling it out?
Often, yes. Ice makers, fans, sensors and door seals can usually be done from the front. Sealed-system work or anything needing rear access may mean pulling the unit from its niche, which we do carefully, with attention to the anti-tip brackets and custom panels.
Why is there frost or condensation around my Miele door seal?
A door that's slightly out of alignment is the usual cause on panel-ready Miele units. Heavy panels shift on their hinges over time. Re-adjusting the door and checking the gasket normally sorts it out.
Do you service Miele freezer and refrigerator columns as a pair?
Yes. Paired columns are separate appliances, each with its own cooling system and controls. We diagnose the one with the problem and check that the pair has the spacing and ventilation Miele specifies.
