5 Most Common LG Refrigerator Issues and How to Fix Them
LG fridge not cooling
A warm fresh-food section with a soft freezer can be a defrost fault, where frost on the evaporator blocks the air, or on linear compressor models, a compressor that is starting to lose capacity. They look alike early on. Check the condenser area at the bottom rear isn't clogged with dust and the vents inside aren't blocked by food. Many LG fridges carry longer parts coverage on the linear compressor itself, so find your warranty papers. We measure the sealed system before quoting anything compressor-related.
LG ice maker frozen in the door
LG's in-door ice makers on French-door models are cooled by freezer air ducted up through the cabinet. When the ice compartment gasket wears or the left door doesn't close fully, humid kitchen air gets in, frost builds around the ice maker and the auger jams or the chute ices shut. Check the compartment cover is latched and nothing on the door shelves stops it closing. Thawing helps briefly. If it keeps freezing, we look at the seal, ice fan and heaters so the frost doesn't come straight back.
LG fridge Er FF error
Er FF points to the freezer fan; its cousins Er IF and Er CF point to the ice maker fan and condenser fan. Ice on the blades, a seized motor or a wiring fault is usually behind them. Listen with the freezer door open: a ticking or scraping sound suggests the blade is hitting frost. Unplug the fridge for a few minutes to see if the code clears. If it returns, we replace the failed fan and, for frost-related faults, check the defrost system, because a fan that iced up once will ice up again.
LG fridge Er dH error
LG uses Er dH for a defrost failure, where the defrost cycle has run too long without warming the evaporator to its target. A failed defrost heater, defrost sensor or thermal fuse, a blocked drain hole or a fault on the main board can all cause it. You'll often see water or ice under the crisper drawers at the same time. Unplugging the fridge for a couple of minutes may let it try again. If the code comes back, the defrost components need testing and the drain clearing so it stops refreezing.
LG Craft Ice not making ice
Craft Ice uses its own mould and fan in the freezer, separate from the regular ice maker on dual-ice models, which is why the spheres can stop while cubes keep coming. A frozen fill tube, a failed Craft Ice fan or a mould fault is the usual cause, and the spheres also take much longer to form than cubes. Check that Craft Ice is switched on, the bin is seated and the water filter isn't overdue. If production has stopped completely, we test the fan, fill and mould assembly.

Is a warm LG fridge always a compressor failure?
No. Frosted evaporators, failed fans, faulty sensors and defrost heaters cause many warm-fridge calls. Because some LG linear compressors have had cooling failures, we check the sealed system properly, but we only quote a compressor job once the readings support it.
My LG refrigerator is still under LG's warranty. Can you fix it?
For repairs covered by LG's manufacturer warranty, contact LG first, since it arranges covered service. If the fridge is outside warranty, or you choose to go ahead privately, our factory-trained technicians diagnose it and quote the repair before any chargeable work.
How often should I change my LG fridge water filter?
LG generally recommends about every six months, or when the filter indicator comes on. A clogged filter slows the flow to the ice maker and dispenser, which shows up as small, hollow cubes or a weak stream long before anything actually breaks.
