Broan-NuTone took shape in 1998, when Broan's parent company Nortek acquired NuTone, a Cincinnati brand founded in 1936 that first became famous for its door chimes before growing into ventilation, intercoms and other home products. Headquartered in Hartford, Wisconsin, the combined company is one of North America's largest residential ventilation manufacturers. Yes. Broan and NuTone are both brands of Broan-NuTone, which also sells Best hoods and, in Canada, Venmar ventilation products. Many parts are shared across the brands, which helps when repairing older hoods.

Can you repair an old NuTone hood or should I replace it?

Many older NuTone hoods can be repaired with a new motor, switch or damper. If parts are no longer available, we will tell you, and a newer Broan-NuTone hood can often fit the same opening and ducting.
