About Sharp

Sharp traces its roots to 1912, when Tokuji Hayakawa opened a small metalworking shop in Tokyo; his Ever-Sharp mechanical pencil later gave the company its name. Now headquartered in Sakai, near Osaka, Sharp became known for consumer electronics, calculators, solar panels and LCD displays.
