Dacor was founded in 1965 by Stanley Joseph and his family in Southern California, and over the following decades it built a reputation for high-performance wall ovens, pro-style ranges and cooktops aimed at serious home cooks. The company stayed family-owned for about five decades until Samsung Electronics acquired it in 2016 to anchor its luxury kitchen business, and Dacor now operates as Samsung's premium built-in brand.
