About Haier

Haier grew out of a struggling refrigerator factory in Qingdao in 1984. Its new manager, Zhang Ruimin, became famous for having workers smash a batch of defective fridges with sledgehammers to make a point about quality. From there Haier expanded worldwide, adding Fisher & Paykel in 2012, GE Appliances in 2016 and Italy's Candy in 2019. It now reports being the world's largest major-appliance brand by retail volume.

In Canada, Haier-branded appliances are mostly compact and specialty products: small and apartment-size refrigerators, wine and beverage coolers, chest and upright freezers, portable and stackable washers and dryers, and compact dishwashers. These are sold through national chains and independent appliance dealers. Haier's larger kitchen and laundry business in North America is carried mainly by the GE Appliances brands it owns.

Haier mini fridge freezing everything

Many small Haier refrigerators use a simple dial thermostat mounted near the evaporator. If its sensing tube shifts or the control sticks, the cabinet overcools and bottles freeze solid.

Wine cooler fan ticking

A thin layer of ice on the interior fan blade, or a fan motor with worn bushings, produces a rhythmic ticking. We clear the ice and address why it formed in the first place.

My Haier is less than a year old. Should I call you?

Check with the manufacturer first. A Haier that new may still be under warranty, and warranty work goes through Haier rather than through us. Once coverage has ended, we can repair it directly.
