About Galanz

Galanz was founded in 1978 by Liang Qingde in Shunde, part of Foshan in China's Guangdong province, and started out trading duck feathers. It moved into microwave ovens in the early 1990s and grew so quickly that by the end of that decade it was the largest microwave maker in the world. Today Galanz builds a large share of the world's microwaves, including many sold under other brand names.

Beyond microwaves, Galanz now makes refrigerators, toaster ovens, laundry and air conditioning, and in 2021 it became the controlling shareholder of Whirlpool's business in China. In Canada the brand is sold through big-box retailers such as Canadian Tire, Best Buy and Walmart. Its best-known products here are colourful retro-styled refrigerators, compact and convertible fridge-freezers, countertop microwaves and combination toaster ovens with air fry modes.
