Expert repair for Westinghouse appliances, in and out of warranty
Westinghouse is an American heritage name with a long history in home appliances. Over the decades, appliances carrying the Westinghouse and White-Westinghouse names have been built by different companies, and today the brand is licensed to various manufacturers. Westinghouse appliance repair in BC covers both: older Westinghouse refrigerators, freezers, ranges and laundry in established homes and basement suites, and newer models sold under the licensed name.

About Westinghouse
Westinghouse takes its name from George Westinghouse, the American inventor and industrialist who founded Westinghouse Electric in Pittsburgh in 1886. The company became one of the world's largest makers of electrical equipment, and over the twentieth century its name appeared on everything from power generators to refrigerators, ranges and laundry. In Canada, Canadian Westinghouse built household appliances at its plant in Hamilton, Ontario.
The appliance business was later sold off. In the United States it went to White Consolidated Industries in the mid-1970s, giving rise to the White-Westinghouse name, while in 1977 the Canadian appliance division was acquired by Camco, which did not keep the Westinghouse brand. Since then the Westinghouse name has been licensed to various companies, so who made a particular appliance depends on when it was built.

Westinghouse range repairCommon Westinghouse problems we fix
Old Westinghouse fridge barely cooling
Dust-blanketed condenser coils underneath and worn door gaskets are common on older units. Cleaning and a new gasket can make a surprising difference.
Freezer ice building up on the walls
On manual-defrost freezers, a leaking door gasket speeds up frost growth. Frost-free models more often have a failed defrost heater or sensor.
Westinghouse oven not baking
A bake element with a visible blister or break is the usual cause. If the element tests fine, the thermostat or control is next.
Washer not draining after the cycle
Socks and small items caught in the drain pump or hose stop draining. We clear the obstruction and check that the pump runs freely.
Dryer drum turning slowly
A worn drive belt, idler pulley or drum rollers make the drum slow or jerky. Replacing worn parts together prevents repeat visits.

Can you repair an older Westinghouse appliance?
Often, yes. Many parts are still available, and we give you a candid assessment of whether a repair makes sense for its age.
Who handles warranty on a new Westinghouse?
Warranty coverage on newer Westinghouse appliances comes from the company that made or licensed them, and we are not an authorized provider. Check with them first; once coverage has ended, we can repair it.
